Someone taps me on the shoulder. I look round. It’s (Name)_______ - my co-worker handing me her phone. “There’s a phone call for you.” She tells me. “It has been put through to the wrong extension.” My heart starts beating at twice the speed. This is it. I take a deep breath as I take the phone from her hand.

“Hello” I say. My voice is trembling and every fingertip seems to have a heartbeat of its very own.

“Hello. It’s (Who?__________) from the (Where?__________).”

“Hi (Name___________)” I try to stay cool, but surely he/she must be able to hear the phone rattling in my shaking hand.

“It’s good news...” he/she tells me, and his/her words open the floodgates to my heart, as it bursts with joy. I can feel the blood surge through my whole body, and my face feels like it’s on fire. I try to hold back my smile, but it has a mind of its own.

“The (What?_____________) is yours. They’ve accepted your application. (Or allocated your money, or reviewed your work, or ?????__________)”, He/she continues.

“Wow (Name___________)” . That’s awesome news.” I tell him/her, trying to sound professional and nonchalant.... but the high pitch in my voice is a giveaway.

“The (Whatever object – keys, check, car,_______) is here at the office, you can pick it up whenever you’re ready.”

“Thank you (Name___________). I’ll be there within the hour.”

I want to scream with excitement.

I put the phone down, and my mouth is starting to ache from the grin of the century.

The relief is immense. At last, we are going to (What? ______).

I pick up my phone. My (Who? boyfriend, friend, husband, son/daughter_______________) is going to be so happy when I tell him/her the news. Oh my God! I just realize that we can (What? ______) tonight! We can finally (What? ______).
