Creative Journal Writing - The Daily Practice

I’m going to give you the run-down of what it is that I do. You’ll develop your own best practice for journaling.

I call it “Daily”, but it’s place in my routine is really on the days that I’m going to be setting myself up to be productive either at my current employment or when I’m at home and I'm intending to create content for the website or one of my other projects. Oh yes, I will dive into journaling if I’m deep in contrast and I need some guidance. (That happens.) So it’s not strictly on an every day basis, and sometimes it's more than once a day.

What does happens daily is that I receive emails form 3 sources that are important to me:

These are email addresses, so there is no link created.
Neale Donald Walsch today@nealedonaldwalsch.com
"Abraham-Hicks Publications" dailyquote@abraham-hicks.com
The Universe theuniverse@tut.com
(“The Universe” is in the form of Mike Dooley)

I look forward to opening these every day to see what insights are in store for me. It’s always relevant to my current life situation, and each one seems to supplement the others as explained on the previous page.

Further down this page I’ll be writing the actual entries I made in my journal. I don’t feel too self-conscious about sharing. I just want to let you know ahead of time that sometimes the thoughts may seem vague or scattered, but the phrases have meaning for me. The purpose of journal writing isn’t for the public. My purpose is to get myself into my clearest, most productive space possible.

I use one other source, but this one doesn’t come in the form of email simply because this organization doesn’t offer daily email. I go to the Field Center website and print off their blog for the previous few weeks. I keep the print out folded inside my journal for easy reference. I’ll only use a few sentences each time from this so one printing can last me quite a while.

I copy down one email at a time into my journal. It will typically suggest some topic for me to write about, or focus upon. This example is from 4/15/10.

From Abraham:
The thought that you think, … attracts to it; so you think it some more, which attracts to it; so you think it some more. In other words, when you have an expectation, you've got a dominant thought going on, and Law of Attraction is going to deliver that to you again, and again and again. And you say "The reason that I believe this, is because it is true." And we say, the reason that you believe it, is because you've practiced the thought. All that a belief is, is a thought that you keep practicing. --- Abraham
Excerpted from the workshop in Indianapolis., IN on Tuesday, May 28th, 2002 #410.

This prompts me to write a list of the beliefs I know I’m practicing well.

BELIEFS PRACTICED WELL
  1. I’m an Ease Worker (I’m going to write about this idea soon)
  2. I’m a powerful creator
  3. I have access to all the resources of the Universe
  4. I can list 10 things easily now – I’ve been practicing (see the page Give Me 10 )
  5. I’m a gifted and unique writer
  6. I’m doing very well at this
  7. I regularly receive communication from the Universe that corresponds with what’s going on for me
  8. I can easily find better feeling thoughts
  9. My next steps are always apparent
  10. The Universe schedules my day efficiently
Then I list things I’d like to get better at by practicing thoughts I don't feel as secure about:
  1. I’m a prolific writer (at times I get insecure about having enough ideas to come up with more content)
  2. Whopping $’s are MINE (Yes, I’m a greedy one!)
  3. I have a supportive relationship (sometimes the boat gets rocky)
  4. Dependable SES (this phrase would take at least a page of explanation, but it’s real for me)
  5. Successful website (I still need to define success related to this site)
  6. Playing with the Big Boys (This means to me that I want authentication)
  7. Engaging, abundant retirement (I’m creating that now)
  8. Easy money flow (it gets plugged occasionally)
  9. I socialize well (I tend to be self-contained if I let myself go)
  10. I have a strong, healthy body (most of the time)

What isn’t written is that I’ll visit the items in the second list a few more times during the day – PRACTICING THEM.

This is the writing that was prompted by the first email.

Now for the Second email.

From Conversations with God:
The future is brighter than ever. Not just humanity's future, but your own, personally. Things have shifted. The energy has been altered. You can feel it if you deeply tune in. This shift is not your imagination, nor is it merely on a national or global level. There is a shift in you. Feel it today, and use it to propel you to a wonderful tomorrow. In fact, do better than feel the energy. BE the energy. Be its Source. Then watch the conditions of your own life change. - Neale Donald Walsch

Here’s what I wrote: Earth shifts parallel personal shifts? Many are already saying this. It’s a correspondence. “Big” things have shifted. Some upheaval will be noticed in my life, but I’m well prepared. Then, when I return to balance, I’ll learn how to operate from a new perspective. How can I get there asap? To best advantage? Hah! ALL is BEST ADVANTAGE. Just keep being and becoming ME. I’m already there. More will unfold before me. (This is just personal stuff, ramblings, reassurances, etc)

Now the third email.

From the Universe:
The thing is, Donna, life's magic isn't a substitute for networking, socializing, and "working." To the contrary, these are some of its greatest incubators. Stoke it, stir it, wave your wand, Donna, and smile like you know a great secret. To the office - The Universe (Mike Dooley)

(On this day, I had just signed up for the CGW3 - Steve Pavlina’s third Conscious Growth Workshop in Las Vegas) I wrote: Maybe Steve’s conference will be “magic” that’s revealed in networking, socializing and working. I want to be in my most receptive space and get something I’ve never understood before. Thanks, Universe!

From the Field:
“It becomes clear, if we open our eyes, that allowing in no way precludes participating. We can do our part, but trying to make something happen is not the only way to participate, and it’s far from the best way.”

I wrote: Amazing correspondence today!
(Then I try to get the important point of each correspondence and bullet them)
  1. Practice believing
  2. Shift happens
  3. Work is magic too
  4. Allowing includes participation
I boil it all down to a couple of sentences that I can remember.
I want to practice believing that I’m now on ‘success level’.
Magic includes work and allowing includes participation.

Very Powerful

Here ends the daily practice.

The important thing is that I take in what’s offered, find what relates to me and gain some insight for growth. Then I do it all over again next day. It takes me half an hour to more than an hour to do this, depending on how involved I get with writing and reflecting on certain points.

It never fails to lift my vibration early in the day so it puts me in a good position to succeed in whatever lies ahead for the day.
