WORRY!

Law of attraction states that what I think about is what I'm creating. If my mind is busy worrying about something, that thing will probably show up. The more I think about it, the more energy I put into it. The greater becomes the attraction for it, and the more prevalent it becomes in my reality. This is the way it works.

What to do about worry then? Finding peace in a troubling situation isn’t easy. It’s even more frustrating when I know that the more I worry, the bigger it gets. Unless I have a bigger psychological problem that requires therapy, (which I don’t) I can find ways to deal with it. Sometimes worry is a habit. Habits can be changed.

In the same way I got the hair-ball rolling that created the bad situation, I can begin unwinding that hair-ball. I can get a better habit of thought going.

I have a bunch of thoughts that I use to deal with worry. I use them constantly. Like aspirins for a headache. When or if feel worry tugging at the corner of my mind, I either start a mental chant going like a mantra, using these thoughts, or I get out the old journal and write them down in a list.

List making is great – so orderly! I like to make a list of 10 things. No good reason. 10 is a nice number and it gives me a goal to shoot for. These are the best thoughts I have that comfort me. They produce the feeling that ALL IS WELL for me when my mind wants to do the hamster wheel.

1) I know I can get control of my own thoughts.

2) I’m doing the best I can, which is pretty good most of the time.

3) All my basic needs are take care of.

4) The Universe conspires in my behalf.

5) I deserve all the good things life has to offer.

6) All problems have within them the seeds of their own solution.

7) The Universe has never let me down before, and there’s no reason to believe this time will be different.

8) I know I create my own reality, I intend to create the best for myself.

9) The Universe has already provided the solution to this, and I'll recognize it soon.

10) I’m open to new thoughts about this that will feel freer.

…then I try to imagine what those specific new, good, freer feeling thoughts are.

Habits take time to build. The shift doesn’t happen all at once. But if I keep redirecting my mind from worry into new positive directions, I do feel more confident and less worried. It’s a habit I can build. The results are worth it.

Look what I got in my email this morning...this is what I mean by CORRESPONDENCE! I received it on 3/12/10, the day after I created this page.

Sent by Neale Donald Walsch :
On this day of your life, Donna, I believe God wants you to know... ....that it is well to avoid the tendency to catastrophize. Stop worrying about all that could occur tomorrow. You are getting agitated about things that haven't happened yet...and may never happen. Stay here, right here, in this moment. What is going on right now...what is occurring right here...? That is all that matters. That is where your life is being lived.

You will not have to think but a second to know exactly why you received this message today.
