The Scrapbooking Aspect

My journals sometimes resemble scrapbook pages.
Mike Dooley
has written about the fact that he has kept a scrapbook that has helped him on his journey toward his philosophy that “Thought become Things”. Personally, I haven’t seen an example of just how he keeps his scrapbook, but I imagine that it is a variation of the Vision Board technique.
This is where you take photographs or find other representational images of whatever it is that you desire (house, car, etc) and put those pictures up on a wall or on the fridge or somewhere so that you will be constantly reminded of your goal. A lot of people have used this method to create what they want, and you can find many examples of that, as well as directions on how to create one, on the internet if you Google Vision Board.
The scrapbooking version of the Vision Board would be to put those pictures into a scrapbook instead. My further refinement of it is to put the pictures into your Journal, where you’re also writing about them. You are then involving another of your senses, sight, as a creative tool. The deeper you become immersed in the details of your creation, the better.
You can also do what I call “Harvesting” pictures and images to put into your journal. In addition to the pictures of the physical thing, like a house, you can also find representations of feelings or positive thoughts that shift your vibration to a higher level.
Here are some of the harvesting ideas:
How to “Harvest”: Look for inspirational or motivational words, phrases and pictures. [picture of a variety of pieces already cut]
Sources could be from greeting cards, or from those old magazines that you would be recycling. Once you start looking for them they pop up everywhere (Law of attraction at work here!) I even find things in bulk-mailed advertisements.
You can attach them to your journal pages using a glue stick, other adhesive, or transparent (non-glossy) tape. You will find that adding these pieces changes the vibration of your journal writing work – sometimes leading you in a whole new direction. Go with the flow…this is the correspondence from the Universe that you have been waiting for!

Another fun activity is to use self-adhesive letters to create your own words and phrases.
Or there is the sticker method. You can find lots of fun stickers in many stores that say just the right thing for a spot on a journal page. I use these all the time. These are the words and phrases that craft enthusiasts use for making greeting cards or there are stickers of little decorative things like flowers and animals.

Stickering
Which brings me to STARS! Sometimes you just have to give yourself a STAR. I mean, really - you look back at what just appeared under your pen and it’s just so fantastic, so freaking wonderful, that it’s truly STAR- worthy. There's just no other way to describe it. This is when you know you’ve lifted your vibration to a really good peak. You can feel it. Go ahead – give yourself a star for that.
I always keep these 3 items handy when I’m journaling:
- harvested pictures & words
- self-adhesive letters to make my own words
- stickers
Most important in the sticker category is STARS. I keep all this stuff in an envelop inside the front flap of my journal.
By all means, include a picture of that house or car if that’s your goal. The more fun you have with this process, the better you feel and the better you feel, the closer you are to your creations.
